Set up a Google Search Console account and verify your web property.
To set up a Google Search Console account, you’ll need to create a free Google account. Then, follow the steps below:
-
Sign in to your Google Account and click Search Console (if you already have a Search Console account, skip this step).
-
Click Add verified website (if you already have a verified web property, skip this step).
-
Enter the URL of your website and click Add.
Visit [Google’s Webmaster Tools](https://www.google.com/webmasters/) homepage. On the left side menu bar, click on “Search Traffic” -> “Search Analytics.” Scroll down until you see “Verification” at which point there should be an option for verifying your web property if it hasn’t already been done automatically by Google when you first registered for an account with them (which I didn’t do).
Get your on-site SEO right.
Now that you have a good idea of what SEO is and how Google works, it’s time to get your website on Google.
The first step is to make sure that your site has a strong foundation for success. To do this, you need to make sure that:
-
The title tag is optimized with target keywords.
-
The URL structure is optimized with target keywords.
-
The meta description and meta keywords are optimized with target keywords.
-
Content on the page uses target keywords in the text (including H1s).
-
Image alt tags use target keywords for images used on the page or blog post/page/etc..
Do keyword research.
The first step to getting your website ranked is figuring out what people will be searching for. There are a number of tools you can use to do keyword research, but I recommend starting with Google’s Keyword Planner tool. You just need to find a competitor that is similar in tone, focus and industry as yours (you can use SEMrush or Ahrefs to search for these).
Once you’ve found the right competitor, click on “Competitors” in the left sidebar on their website and look through their top pages list. They should give you an idea of what keywords they target and how often they rank highly for them (this information is important because it allows us to figure out which keywords are more valuable).
Create great content.
Creating great content is the foundation of getting your website to rank well on Google. It’s also the easiest way to increase traffic and engagement rates on your site.
The first step in creating great content is understanding what makes it so special. Beyond that, you’ll need to understand how Google uses this information when deciding where your site will appear in search results:
-
Good content answers questions or provides solutions that people are searching for when they use a search engine like Google or Bing.
-
Bad content doesn’t answer any questions or solve problems for potential readers; instead, it’s usually just filler used by webmasters who want their pages indexed by search engines so they can get more traffic from their sites’ high rankings (also known as “SEO”).
Have an authoritative site.
If you want to rank highly in search engines, you need to understand the importance of authority. Authority is a ranking factor Google uses to determine which websites are more trustworthy than others. The more authoritative your site is perceived by Google, the higher it will rank on SERPs (search engine result pages).
There are many ways to build authority, but one of the most important things you can do is get other sites linking back to yours. If another site links back to yours, then that’s a signal that says “hey Google—this site has value!” Here are some tips for how you can go about getting those links:
-
Find out who’s linking back to similar content on their sites
-
Look at what they’re doing well and try doing something similar yourself
-
Try approaching them directly with an email explaining why you think they’d be interested in linking back
Get other sites to link to yours.
The next step is to get other sites to link to yours. You can use a tool like Ahrefs, SEMrush or Majestic to find sites that link to your competitors. These tools will also show you how many links each site has and what the domain authority of each site is—the higher the DA (domain authority), the better.
Once you’ve found a site that has links from high DA domains, reach out and ask them if they would like their content published on your website. This can be done via email or phone call—it doesn’t matter which method you choose as long as it works well for both parties involved in the conversation (i.e., nobody gets offended).
Understand your content’s visibility on Google.
To understand how visible your content is on Google, you will want to know:
-
Your search volume. This is the number of people searching for the keywords you have targeted in search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing and others. You can get this information from Google or other tools such as SEMrush. The higher the number, the more demand there is for your content.
-
How easy it is for users to find your website when they use those keywords on Google or other search engines (known as “traffic”). This can be measured by measuring “engagement” levels of these visitors once they reach your site (e.g., whether they click through from a link in their search results).
The best way to get your site onto Google is to follow these steps and always create quality content.
The best way to get your site onto Google is to follow these steps and always create quality content.
Content is king. Quality content is the foundation of a successful website, it’s the key to ranking on Google and getting traffic to your site. It can also help you keep your customers happy because they will trust you more if they see that you care about them as people not just as customers
Conclusion
Don’t forget to keep your site up-to-date and relevant, as well as creating new content on a regular basis. If you do this, you’ll be on the path to success!
